Join Nashville’s Northern Soul Club!

Northern Soul Club is all about the music, the movement, and the magic. Today, the passion lives on, with a modern revival keeping the grooves alive and the dance floors packed.

Happening on the first Friday of every month, different DJs take over the turntables, spinning soul classics, deep cuts, and high-energy tracks that demand movement. We turn down the lights, clear the floor, and let the music do the rest. Come early. Stay late. Don’t stand still.

The Porch Visiting Writers Series presents: Beth Ann Fennelly & Claire Holley

As part of their 2026 Visiting Writers Series, the Porch is thrilled to welcome Beth Ann Fennelly, an award-winning teacher from The University of Mississippi and author of seven books, including The Irish Goodbye, published this spring by W.W. Norton. Fennelly was the Poet Laureate of Mississipp from 2016 - 2021 and has received grants from the N.E.A., the United States Artists, the Academy of American Poets, and a Fulbright to Brazil. Her books include three poetry collections: Open House, Tender Hooks, and Unmentionables, and a book of nonfiction, Great with Child. A novel she co-authored with her husband, Tom Franklin, called The Tilted World, was published by HarperCollins. Her sixth book, Heating & Cooling: 52 Micro-Memoirs, was named an Atlanta Journal Constitution Best Book, a Goodreaders Favorite for 2017, and the winner of the Housatonic Book Prize. Of The Irish Goodbye, Jamie Quatro (also appearing our Visiting Writers Series this spring) says, “This book knocked me sideways. I tore through it in a day and I’m still trying to catch my breath. . . . I’ve long been a fan of Beth Ann Fennelly’s work, but The Irish Goodbye is her best book yet.”

Fennelly will read and perform with her good friend, the singer-songwriter Claire Holley, who was born and raised in the American South and currently resides in Los Angeles. Holley has released twelve albums and has written music for theater productions, short and feature length films, and a ballet under the direction of David Keary. No Depression called Time in the Middle “one of 2015’s finest albums” and her powdercoat ep with Kristin Mooney won the 2014 MIAL “Best in Popular Music.” Her latest record is Where I Lived.

Uncle Freddy’s Bro Country Card Game Video Game Beta Test

Ever wanted to try your hand at writing a bro country hit without having to buy a truck or a pair of cut-off jeans? Now’s your chance.

The Bro Country Card Game is a party game where players compete to write the funniest lyrics imaginable. Each round pulls from real bro country hits (top-ten chart songs from 2008–2018), and players choose words to fill in the blanks to create the most ridiculous, clever, or chaotic version possible. Think Mad Libs meets Jackbox Party Pack, with a host who may or may not know what they’re doing keeping things moving.

This special happy hour is your chance to beta test the upcoming video game version, hang out, grab a drink, and help shape the final product with your feedback. No experience necessary, just a good sense of humor and a willingness to get a little silly. 🎮🍻

Come play, vote, laugh, and see if you have what it takes to write the next (unintentionally hilarious) bro country anthem.

The Medium 'Speaking of the Coast' Album Release Show

Are you stoked? You should be.

The Medium is celebrating Speaking of the Coast at Vinyl Tap with a rare, rowdy, slightly unhinged Sunday night situation. New songs, old favorites, and whatever else feels right in the moment.

Their whole thing lives somewhere between tight pop instincts and beautiful left turns: big hooks, weird little ideas, heartfelt moments that sneak up on you, and just enough chaos to keep it interesting.

Featuring an opening set from Droopy Eye Guy to get things properly loosened up.

Nashville friends (and exceptionally cool visitors): come pack the room, grab a drink, and be in it.

LIVE: Hula Hi-Fi

Hula Hi-Fi slides into Vinyl Tap with a sound that feels both way out and right at home. Led by lap steel wizard Josh Kaler, who refuses to keep the instrument in the background where it “belongs”, the band reshapes old songs and new ideas into something hazy, groovy, and a little unpredictable.

Expect a reworked 20th century songbook, originals that sneak up on you, and a set that drifts between dancefloor moments and full-on head trips. The kind of night you stumble into once and then start bringing people back to—whether you live here or just wish you did.

In Between Days: Alt Music Video DJ

“BORN TO KILL is more than the conclusion to a 15 year wait between Social Distortion albums, it’s a revelation: 11 songs of pure, unadulterated rock fury, joy and catharsis, all imbued with the signature blend of defiance and world weariness that has made Ness a poet and sage to the dispossessed for more than 40 years. Co-produced by Ness and Dave Sardy, and featuring guest appearances from Benmont Tench of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Lucinda Williams, and collaborative cover art by Ness and Shepard Fairey, Born To Kill is the latest installment in a remarkable catalog that spans nearly three generations.”

India Ramey In-Store & Album Signing

India Ramey In-Store & Album Signing

Welcome to India Ramey’s Villain Era! After the success of her fiery 2024 LP, Baptized By The Blaze, Nashville outlaw siren India Ramey is back with Villain Era, set for release on May 8, 2026, via Copaco Records/Blue Élan. Armed with that conviction and a new batch of songs, Ramey left the South for the first time to record in Los Angeles with two-time Grammy-nominated producer Eric Corne. Together, they built a soundscape as cinematic as it is cathartic. Ramey, whose fans have taken to calling her “The Woman In Black” and “the Wednesday Addams of country music,” told Corne she wanted the album to sound like Johnny Cash and Loretta Lynn had risen from the grave to score a Quentin Tarantino film.

We are thrilled to be hosting India for a stripped down in-store performance of some of her new songs, followed by an album signing! Come hang with us on Friday, May 8th at Noon!
