SIERRA NEVADA: Hoppy 40th Anniversary Ale
Draft ABV 6% 65IBUs
IPA’s take up the most attention these days, but hop-forward beers weren’t popular when Sierra started brewing in 1980. A lot has changed in the world but one thing is for certain, Sierra Nevada continues making great beer. This Hoppy 40th Anniversary Ale showcases the bold flavors and aromas of a classic West Coast IPA: intense pine and citrus with a deep gold color and slight caramel sweetness. Beer is just like a classic record you have to drop the needle on every once in a while to remind you where you started out. Sierra Nevada’s Pale was the first IPA I fell for. We have a very limited supply of this on tap this week so grab it while it lasts.

Every month we feature a ‘Guest Selector’ of music for your listening pleasure. This month we give you one of our very favorite people in the whole entire world…drumroll…DUN, DUN, DA, DA, DUN….CATHIE! She is a lover of all things music and we invite you to witness how she boldly weaves together a variety of different genres. From Jerry Reed to Morphine to Blood Incantation to XTC, she will surprise you at every turn, friends.
Cathie is an accomplished skate boarder and our go to beer sherpa. She (@thebetterbeerbrigade) provides us with much of the beer we proudly carry such as Wiseacre, Bell’s, ENBW, Rhinegeist, Good People, Trim Tab, and Jackalope. Cathie keeps us, and you, up to date on what’s new by putting us through a strenuous series of grueling tasting sessions each week. Wander into the bar on a given afternoon and you are likely to find us with Cathie talking beer and music. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.
She’s the best in our book and we say “Thank you, Cathie!” We are honored that you are our first Guest Selector of 2020.

BARRIQUE BLENDING & ROCKET REPUBLIC BREWING: Recolté Rose
ABV 7.1%
Barrique Blending and Rocket Republic Brewing have teamed up to bring us this Recolté Rose Sour Wild Ale. They brewed this in collaboration and even harvested all the ingredients together. Dedication to craft is a process of love and these guys are great craftsmen. Our assistant bar manager Rachel had one word to say after tasting it ‘wow.’

Forestdale Incense by Luke Schneider
It typically slows down for us this time of year because everyone is still fresh on their New Year’s resolution. We know where you are. You’re out there waking up early, meditating, hitting the gym, counting those calories, and all around getting your head straight for the year ahead. We say ‘humbug’ but Luke Schneider and Forestdale incense want to help you achieve those lofty goals of peace and serenity.
Luke started making incense in March of last year when he found some down time from playing pedal steel on the road. He started selling the incense at his solo pedal steel shows around town. People loved the scent of his original oil blend and started inquiring where they could pick it up when he was out on the road. That was the epiphany moment for Luke and when Forestdale was born.
Named for the street his mother grew up on, this is something Luke has put his passion into. “I am blown away by the response to the incense. I'm so incredibly happy that it has become a part of people's lives,” Luke says. People have used Forestdale in '“...yoga and meditation time, their songwriting time, as a sleep and relaxation aid.” Plus it’s an all natural product made by hand!
You may have seen Luke around town over the years playing with bands like Natural Child, Teddy & Rough Riders, or Margo & the Price Tags. Luke has a record coming out on Third Man Records later in the year and he tells me “ It's ambient new age music created entirely by pedal steel guitar!” Keep a look out for his record and grab some Forestdale next time you’re in.

Happy New Year everyone! We’ve missed you during the holidays but do not fear because we are back.
With the dawning of a new decade, new fangled technology like the internet (not going away), and the ever immanent robot takeover we decided to embrace the inevitable. We have manifested a digital playlist on a digital platform in order for you to take a peek of what’s coming out each Friday. We will feature playlists by our Record Store staff, new releases, re-issues, and a guest curator for the month.
Each playlist has a slightly different flavor for whatever mood you are in. Every time you come in one of these folks is providing the soundtrack for you to relax with friends or flip through stacks. The musical line between the record store and bar world is a thin one but they make it sound smooth around the edges.
