Vinyl Tap is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream for founder and ninth generation Nashvillian, Todd Hedrick. Todd grew up in East Nashville attending concerts at Municipal Auditorium, Starwood Amphitheater and the Ryman. Much of his misguided youth was spent searching for cassettes, CD's, and vinyl around town. Frequenting Tower Records, CATS Records, and the Great Escape, Todd immersed himself in all the music he could get his hands on.
After attending Father Ryan High School and majoring in Electronic Media at Xavier University, Todd went to work for the man. He toiled away in the pits of corporate America all the while dreaming of owning his own record store in his beloved hometown.
In 2015 the timing was right for Todd to get out of the rat race. With the perfect location ready for new life, vinyl industry making a comeback, and craft beer world exploding the stars aligned and Vinyl Tap was born.
With the support and partnership of family, the location was restored and the building that has housed everything from a neighborhood grocery store to a laundromat is now the local record store and bar. After amassing all the vinyl he needed to open Vinyl Tap by November of 2016, Todd’s dream became a reality.
Since then our amazing staff and customers have enabled the dream to thrive. For that, we say thank you as we enter our third year. The inimitable Jerry Garcia may have put it best: "Once in a while, you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right"
Thank you!

Through the years we have shared many ups and downs with you. We have celebrated new additions to the family, new jobs, new marriages, old marriages, new records releases, and so many of life’s moments. We will celebrate together again as soon as we are able and we cannot wait!
Vinyl Tap has become much more than a neighborhood record store and bar. Vinyl Tap is a community and the amazing staff responsible for breathing life into that community, on a daily basis, are experiencing difficult times. Just because the bar is closed it doesn’t mean that our community is closed. We are all still here.
These fine people could use a hand right now. Due to the pandemic, the bar and record store staff are out of work with no end in site. Please help if you can and stay tuned to our social media accounts for updates.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by our good friend Matt to benefit our employees. Our good friends at Dualtone Records are helping with a great benefit you can check out here. A portion of each shirt purchased will go directly to helping us stay afloat.
Please take care of yourselves and one another.
Love,
Vinyl Tap
